Poetry Slam at Otara

Out South Auckland this May, we caught part of the Pacific Arts Summit poetry slam at Otara Town Centre Stage. The slam was part of a two week long summit celebrating Pacific artforms. Charlie Dark from the UK was the guest on behalf of British Council NZ’s PIYN project 2010.

Charlie was a hit with the crowd of Otara townsfolk & freshies performing his Brotherhood poem “Black Fist”, but it was Ole Maiava, Auckland City’s Pasifika festival director, who stole the show with his hilarious take on Samoan slamming…
