Some Flyer Art. Part 3 – the cutting room floor.
So many flyers and album cover mock ups get done, and some just never make it out alive. Here is an early development of
the back cover of Manuel Bundy’s Solephonic 12″. Done by Jnr at Ithink Design.
and the raw poster that went on to be our EU Tour poster for 2006. This one was done by Trist at Obsolux. The Pacific foliage had some drums and instruments added to it in the final version.
and who can forget the original (instantly forgettable, not very long lasting) cover of OMD’s “Energy State”, with Hobs on the cover. Just didn’t look right (no doubt!), and was replaced on the album’s second pressing.
here is an old flyer from JDogg for Bath St club (which Sugarlicks founder Gmuva set up in Dunedin in the 90′s). Due to the obvious rip of Keith Haring’s styles, we were contacted by his NYC agent and told to cease and desist … which we did!
and lastly, the photo taken by Brother J (who may have also done the tag), which was then modified and used for the second Styles Upon Styles fashion show in High St Auckland. You can watch a video of the first show a couple of years earlier here.
