This clip is from the documentary movie for the People In Your Neighbourhood (PIYN) project in Auckland NZ 2009. The footage in this clip features the Mixit Dancers, and GuZheng player Yao from Red Dynasty.
The PIYN project features aspiring ethnic artists from Auckland, writing an urban soul album and producing a show in Auckland and at Womad, as part of the British Council’s Creative Cities and Knowledge Economy programmes in East Asia.

Had lunch at Verona cafe on K Rd in Auckland with Nat Rose today, she kindly handed me a copy of her new music video “Reporua”. Silky voice as always, and great scenes from Up North. Mean Maori Mean.

The recent economic times and the closure and contraction of many of the country’s galleries prompted, Event Producer, Yasmin Farry (Air New Zealand Fashion Week, People In Your Neighbourhood Project 09, Co-Founder of Khuja Lounge) to create a series of ‘pop-up galleries’. The first being a week-long exhibition, UnCommon Company. UnCommon Company opens Tuesday 17th Nov – Sat 21st Nov at 238 K’Rd, George Court Building.
Opening function 17th Nov 5.00-7.30pm. The exhibition features Walangari (Australia), Submariner, Glen Heenan & Paul Scheuer.
